The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls (The Center) has been part of the Hoosick Area Community for 100 years. The Center is so inter-twined within our community, since its very beginning as a birthing and health clinic in 1914; it is easy to not appreciate how unusual this history is. Very few small communities still have such a resource. For 100 years, The Center has been called home for so many, a place close to their own home. It has also meant that The Center could and does count on the community for assistance in many ways; including its auxiliary, the local emergency corps, pharmacy and doctors as well as financial support. This is 100th year of that relationship, and we want to say thank you, celebrate our place in our community and seek your continued help.
Get Ready for the Rock to Remember Rock-A-Thon
On November 13, 2014, The Center will spend the day honoring the strength, passion and compassion of our residents and community members who struggle with Alzheimer’s. We will do this by having a day long Rock to Remember Rock-A-Thon from 7:00 AM -7:00 PM. We will be obtaining sponsors and rocking chairs to raise awareness of this debilitating disease and to also raise money for our local Alzheimer’s Association. At 2:00 – 3:30 PM, we will host a screening of the movie “The Genius of Marian” about a woman and her family as they come to terms with Alzheimer’s disease. The movie aired on PBS on September 8th and has received rave reviews. The screening will take place in our new Sanctuary – a place at The Center – which allows our residents to relax, receive sensory stimulation and reminisce with caregivers. From 7:00-8:00 PM, Bill Hinrichs from the Alzheimer’s Association will give a presentation on Holiday Hints for Caregivers. All of these events are open to the public and free of charge. Please join us as we support our families and friends rocking the day away for Alzheimer’s. If you have any questions about our day long events, please call Christa Caron, Activity Director at 518-686-4371.
The Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation at Hoosick Falls’ mission is to create an individualized resident experience. When the need arises for short-term or long-term rehabilitation care, our dedicated staff is here to provide you or your loved one with the love and care we would give to our own loved ones.
Here at The Center, we believe…
